because its really hard. my mother was one. but i also saw many women that pulled it off expertaly! i forsee you being one!

That is not a nice thing to say. I believe that you could be a fantasitc single mom if you put your heart into it and know that you are going to have to work your @ss off for the rest of your life to stay afloat. But, hey, we all do now adays! Maybe the people saying this to you just had other plans in their own heads for you and for some reason they are disappointed. People tend to be more negative now then back in the day. Unfortunate. Hey, but don't let that get you down!! You have a beautifull child to fullfill your life and enough to worry about without wasting energy on what they all think! Good Luck.

Maybe they just want you to know that being a single mom is very, very hard work. Maybe they aren't happy themselves unless they make someone else unhappy. Who knows. As long as you stay positve it doesn't matter what they think. You can kindly tell them you don't plan on being miserable and if they can't be supportive you would rather not discuss it.
I am a single mom and though it is the toughest thing I have ever done, I am certainly not miserable!
It's your choice to make it what you want to make it. Just be prepared for an uphill battle. But, not necessarily misery. :)

the answer is, because its too easy to be negative!!! You will be happy and very glad that you stick by your child and support your child the best way that you can. As for the negative people, tell them all to go to h&*()( this isn't rocket science, this is life, and the best way to be is positive, you are not missing any brain cells. I am telling you to only listen to positive people, and contact positive agency's to help you through the rough parts when you feel like you are a bad mom. If you try and reqest the assistance that you need you will be all the more stronger for it. Being a happy single mom is better than being a miserable married mom. Staying together for the kids sake only, can make for a pretty miserable existance.

Because they probably would be misserable. The simple fact is if you believe that you will be happy and you go into the situation knowing what to expect you will be happy. You get what you believe you will get out of most of life's situation. Some people are just negative and they probably have bad things happen to then as a result. So be positive and be strong and know that you can do it. Even if others have tried and failed.

Do not listen if people tell you that it cant be done Did it myself with three, without social services Things were hard at times, but we always made it thru All three children are grown now, doing well, professional people with families of their own The key is to be a MOM and to love your child and raise the child with respect, confidence, and pride

Most people find raising a family to be a 2 person job and probably more time will be required with the children and all the decisions pretty much rest on one person.

Because they are losers who cannot imagine how they will deal with the situation. My mother was a single mom and I cannot ask for a better upbringing and she is a self-admitted happy woman.

I understand what you are going through, im a single mom myself. I know how it feels to have everybody say you cant do it! just do what I do do not let CANT be a apart of your vocab, it doesnt fit well with anyone.

Cause they don't really know, have they ever tryed it?? They are afraid of being alone there self !! If your a strong person you can do it and you'll be just fine and happy !! You get to date more then them too !! You don't have any one to commit to like they do !! There jealious maybe !!
