I am in my Senior year of high school and I always thought I would become a lawyer and it seemed the most plausible because I love history and I am pretty good at english and I think I would do really well in a law profession. But, recently I been really, really intersted in becoming a doctor althought I really not good in with sciences I can pull a B with a lot of work. I know the chioce seems cliché whether to become a doctor or lawyer I am quite torn. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly apperiated. thanks

I second the above post. Admission into medical school is all about the sciences, particularly chemistry and biology. Also, every B you earn in college will significantly degrade your chances.

Only do it if you really really really want to do it and like sciences and helping others. It's 4 years of lots of sciences in college and another 4 years of medical school and then 3 to 5 years of residency before you can become an attending and if you want to specialize, then it's even more years of fellowship. Make sure you do it for the right reason because it's a lot of work and money (cost money, don't make that much nowadays due to insurance) and most people I know who are doctors now would not think or consider doing anything else.

Well the thing everyone always says is do something you're good at. If it takes a lot of work for you to do well in the sciences, odds are becoming a doctor isn't for you. The good news here is you have plenty of time to figure out which path you want to take. Switching majors really isn't that big of a deal, so I'd suggest going to a college that has both programs. Who knows, maybe you'll end up in something completely different.

You can be whatever you like to be. As far as sciences go you can work harder and achieve what you want! Both professions take a lot of work though and I hope you are prepared for that. And neither professions will start off so gloriously. Go with what is in your heart, discuss things with a school councilor if available. Follow your heart in anything you want and you will achieve and don't let anyone try to take you away from your dreams!

If you want to get into medical school, you will need to be extremely good at the sciences in college. So, if you are having trouble with the sciences in high school, that is not be a good sign. You will need to improve in that area.
