trust me you will go into labor, and if your water doesn't break your doctor will induce.that happened to me my daughter never fell and my Doctor induced me it all works out. if inducing doesn't help or there is a problem with the birth itself then your doctor will do a c-section. either way your doctor will do whatever is necessary to keep you and your baby safe.good luck.

No, everybody goes into labor sooner or later. There is a risk to going over, where the baby outgrows the ability of you to supply his needs. But this hardly ever happens one week or even two weeks over. Beyond two weeks the risk to the baby increases and the doctors will usually induce at that point. The best way to know the baby is "happy" in there is to feel plenty of movement. There are other ways that the doctor can assess the baby's well being. But right now patience is the best thing. If labor is induced before the cervix ripens, it can lead to a very long and difficult labor.

What if I just never go into labor?
Is it possible that some women just don't produce the proper hormones for labor to begin? When a 40 week pregnancy starts edging towards 42 weeks many doctors and midwives start talking about means of inducing labor. How long is "too long" to be pregnant?
First, babies all gestate at different rates. Humans function "normally" within a wide range of metabolisms, blood pressures, heart rates, hours of sleep needed per night, etc. Do we assume every cake will be "done" in the same amount of time when they are baking in different ovens at different temperatures? Why, then, would we assume that every baby is "done" at 40 weeks past the first day of the last period? Heck, human women don't even ovulate on the same schedules.
There is wide spread concern within the medical community that all placentas can fail to provide a "late" baby with the nourishment it needs. "At 42 weeks a baby is better off out than in", apparently the human womb is a ticking time bomb. The fear is that hormones won't kick in, labor will never begin and the time bomb will fizzle, taking the baby with it. Babies must be rescued from the womb before the mother has a chance to kill it.
Nature is not typically designed that way. Humans have been going into labor for all of history without Pitocin The majority animals continue to do so.

No, I do not think it is possible. I would right away think that the timing is wrong. Maybe you are not quite 40 weeks yet. But I have heard of some who are over due and the same thing is happening and the doc will induce them so that little one does not come out as big as Shrek. If baby is too big, then doc will take little one out C-section. But, usually things get moving all on their own, sometimes all of a sudden. And that's why you hear of babes being born in a taxi. But, hey, congrats and hope baby is ok.

Nope. You'll go into labor. Your baby can't stay in there forever! Even if we didn't have doctors, you would still go into labor. Childbirth is a natural thing and you could easily go to 42+ weeks!!
Inducing isn't really that bad, just to let you know. It just gets the party started!
Apparently I'm looking at this in too of a broad sense. Has no one else seen documentaries on child birth?! Child birth is natural and has been going on for thousands of years. There are cases of stone babies, but those are rare and few between. Women have babies. It's natural. Even if the baby is a stillborn, the baby will be born. Today doctors won't let it get that far, but in the past it could easily go beyond 42 weeks.

Rarely, but it has occurred. They won't let you go so long that it puts the baby in danger. They'll induce; and if you still can't deliver, they'll do a C-section. Don't worry, the doctors have a handle on this sort of thing.

yeah its normal thats why they allow up to 42 weeks and then they induce. I remember my grandma telling me about my mom being born, she was late she finally gave birth at 43 weeks, muchly over due but she did weigh 9 lbs 4 oz. guess doctors pay more attention now and revert to the more modern ways than to just let the little one come naturally.

That happened to my friend's sister and it turns out that the baby was actually breach (even though the ultrasounds all looked like he was head down). I wouldn't worry too much, when the baby is ready he/she will come out.

yes it is possible but they will have to induce like you say or the baby could get very ill or die due to swallowing fluids with the bvabys own waste in it
