Hi Jess...it is my understanding that you can not purchase savings bonds online and recieve the bond in the mail.

If you purchase the savings bond at a bank or credit union, you will then receive the bond in the mail.

If you choose to purchase your bond from Treasury Direct, then you will receive your bond electronically.

Your choice totally depends on the purpose of the bond. If you are purchasing a bond as a gift, I recommend going into a bank/credit union branch, that way your present will arrive in the mail.

If you are purchasing the bond for your family, then it is entirely up to your personal comfort level.

Hope this helps!
