Technically you two are married by common law. I don't know why you two haven't yet. Have you ever spoken to him about it? Has he ever brought it up? Tying the knot is interesting, but in your case it won't make a big difference. If the feelings are mutual, then get married. You can't force him or him force you. You have to both want it.

Yes i feel that you should get married for so your kids could have a solid family foundation but only do it if you think its best for the both of you. Your kids would be very happy knowing that they will be one of the few kids in this world who has a mother and a father around them and living with them, you will be a real family.

If you've come to the conclusion that marriage will spice up your relationship, you've come to the wrong conclusion! After 12 years and several kids, your relationship should be rock solid. But if you're looking for ways to make it more 'interesting', then you should make your b/f aware of your concerns and seek some sort of resolution before you marry him.
Did I mention that you are already his commonlaw wife?

You shouldn't get married to "make things more interesting." People marry because they want to make a life long committment to each other and only each other. I think it's time you stop playing house and get married, but your bf has everything for free, no committment on his part? Why would he want to buy the cow when he can get it for free?

Well do you want to marry him, does he want to marry you? 12 years is a long time, don't you want to show your kids a good example of family life.

You should have done that long time ago but nevertheless it isn't too late to decide to get married. That would be a wonderful idea.

When you know he's the one for you...By NOW you both should know. If you already have children and are cohabitating then techically you ARE married....you just need to marriage papers to make it legal!
