It was the 'Victoria Cross',awarded by King George 5th.Named after his grandmother,Queen Victoria.I tried to convince her that she should hand it in,as it may be extremely important to his descendants. Her answer is silly. She believes that if she waits,a reward may be advertised.

why wait for a reward to be advertised when she could handed back. she may get a reward for her honesty. The very worst, is she would feel good about returning it to the rightful owner, a feeling money cant buy

That is an award for service during WW1.Her reward is being the one that found it!It was awarded by the English government,if she wants a reward I will give her one now!Thank you for finding my award. God Bless You, for letting my family know where it is .Please take care of it,and keep it,for it is your responsibility now.

It depends where she found it. Assuming she found it on public property, it should be turned in. However, it's hard to say where she should turn it in. She would want to be sure that the person she gave it to got it to the right person or group rather than selling it.
