So, I've been working at this place for about a year now and have recently discovered that this small office is more like High School! So I work by myself saturdays and most days i close by my self so I was able to do some detective work. I have found so far about 25 notes passed between the other 4 girls (two of them are my boss' favorites, BTW) who work here, and all about me. They just saying stuff to be mean, just plain mean. I'm scared to tell my boss because there are rumors that he fired people for not liking the other "kids" (as he puts it) or for not being a "team player." I'm not passionate about my job but it definately pays the bills and lets me have some entertainment money too. Should I Quit? Should I ignore it and probably just wait to be fired? It just breaks me down, we used to all be kinda friends but it just seems like they need some one to pick on....geez I've been out of high school for 9 years!! I just need some fast advice!

I hate to break it to you sweetheart, but EVERY place is like this!!
Making a copy of the notes passed between the other girls is not a good idea. They may get in a little trouble, but going through their private property was a worse one and just as childish. If they know you did this and ANYTHING comes up missing in their offices, you will probably be blamed!! Passing notes and badmouthing a coworker is not a firing offense, but stealing is!!
People are mean. And being a Team Player is a big deal in corporate America. Really, that is just a vague term they use as an excuse to fire anyone or make them miserable so they'll quit.
Don't quit yet. Find another job first. I'd just be as "positive" as i could and try to hang in until I found something just as good.
I've been in and am in your situation right now. Many people are hypocrits and just want to gossip or create their own little clique or kingdom. This is how they do it!

I worked in an office that was like that, It didn't involve me at all because I knew how the people were from the first day I started working there. I heard people talking about other people and I just knew, it was going to be one of those offices, so right from day one, I made it very clear that I was there to do my job and not for a popularity contest. I kept everything professional and when I was asked to go out with them, I just politely refused. At lunch time, I went out to eat by myself and talk on my cell.
So, my advice is, just keep to yourself and don't give them anything to talk about and they will quickly get bored with targeting you. That sad part is, they will just find someone else to pick on. People like that need their azz kicked but that wouldn't be a good idea if you want to keep your job. Good Luck.

That's always a touchy subject. Lots of variables: don't know your financial situation, is it worth deal with the headaches, etc. For the most part, I would say leave. I tell friends/family 'I know you need the money, but do you really want to work every single day angry?'. I could go on and on, but for now all I can say is 'look into yourself, analyze your strengths, ask yourself if it is really (and truly) necessary to go through what you are going though? Good Luck.

my previous job was like that. you don't hafta quit unless you really can't take it. I used to just stick my nose in a book on my breaks or talk on my cell phone to my honey. I'd always be to busy to even pay attention to the other coworkers. If you are quiet and don't keep giving them things to use against you it will die down. Best to brush up that resume *just in case*

if you can, make copies of the notes and go to someone higher than your immediate boss. if that doesn't work, at least if you get fired you will have some proof about hostile working conditions and can contact your local labor board. good luck...i've been there and it sucks
