Is Pedro really that important? I love him and all, but he hasn't been here in a while and we've been doing fine so is it really THAT significat that he comes back healthy?

I think the Mets are a WS caliber team even without Pedro (his impact last year was nominal @ 9 wins). However, if Pedro can come back fairly healthy, and contribute even at the level of, say, a number three starter (and I still thank he can come back as a 1), it would make the mets less dependant on the back of the rotation, which can be an achilles heel for them, unless they get either a breakout from Pelfrey/ Humber/ Vargas/ Sosa, or a "turn back the clock" from Sele/ Park. And that is assuming stability from Maine and Perez, and no injuries to El Duque or Glavine.

In other words, the Mets don't NEED Pedro per se, but he would be a valuable contributor if he can come back strong. Be honest, who would you want to pitch in a big game for you in August, Pedro or Aaron Sele?

Pedro is nothing but media hype! For a guy who continually folds under pressure it never ceases to amaze me how peoples perception of this guy is so perverted. He's a 5 inning pitcher. Most of his win during his career are against sub .500 teams. Look at his numbers. He has a history of breaking down all the time. He will not have a positive impact on the Mets. He is money wasted. The Mets have major pitching problems and need to correct it pretty quick. Dumping Pedro would be a good start. As it is the Phillies will run away with the division.

The Mets will need for their very potent lineup to produce a lot of runs for a very old and inexperienced pitching staff.

Pedro is 36 recovering from rotator cuff surgery and will miss at least half the season.

The Mets won't miss his 9 wins.

I hate Pedro. He should have gotten the crap beaten out of him for what he did to Don Zimmer. F*ck Pedro. He is an embarrassment to baseball. And he would threaten to throw pitches at hitters like Posada. Yeah, some hero, someone worth loving. I wouldn't care if he retired. MLB will have one less ******. That is a great thing.

Pedro is all done. He is injured beyond where he will ever be the great pitcher he was. Too bad too. He could have made a difference with the Mets!!

Chow!!

Pedro is a sideshow now in his career not the dominant starter that he once was.5 or 6 inings tops & pray the bullpen comes through for Wilie Randolph.
