New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (the 2 volume, 3801 page, 1993 edition)

SLANG: Language that is regarded as very informal or much below standard educated level.

Ain't is definitely not a word you will hear coming out of educated mouths (hopefully not anyway.) It seems to fit nicely into the Oxford definition of slang.

ain't

• contraction informal 1 am not; are not; is not. 2 has not; have not.

— USAGE In modern English the use of ain’t is non-standard and should not be used in formal or written contexts, despite being widespread in many dialects and in informal speech.

it's just an informal contraction. if you are writing or speaking to an audience that calls for formality or professionalism, probably best to avoid it. if not, then i ain't tellin nobody.
