i want to try my hand at drawing anime, but i dont know what to draw. can you recommend some sources? i dont want the kiddie manga style anime, im talking about the really detailed stuff.

Have you looked that the "How to draw Anime?" Series, they are amazing and help a lot with drawing. Some people say it also inproves their drawing skills for non-anime things as well. Nothing is as much fun as drawing your favorite anime character. Being the girly girl I am, I enjoyed Sailor Moon at first, but it's really upon you to find what you like drawing, whether it be Gundams or Pretty Girls.

before you try to draw, u should first hav a look at those animes which hav superb and very detailed drawings. for example, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.
The drawings and all that are very detailed. However, i advice you NOT to learn form that anime's drawing of the limbs. ESPECIALLY the limbs. The limbs are erh... out of shape. Too thin, too long, etc.
Some other animes which have pretty nice drawings are...
Inuyasha
Rurouni kenshin(Samurai X)
Bleach(the way itz drawn are pretty like real humans, r.g. the face shape)

There a tons of How to Draw books you can try or pick up Manga/Anime Drawing books. Thats how I first started.

Try drawing gothic/mystical creatures. I like the ones from Minitokyo.

Ok checkout the tutorials here http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/ umm lets see there are a buttload of books at barnes and nobles u can get but beware manga is everything but easy to learn i been working my butt of for 3 years at it and i still am not that good.><
