I'm doing research on my family background, and almost anyone who is a Chowdhury knows some of their history and that they were given that title by the British because their family was rich. My question is do you know if it was common for the British back then to "mingle" with the Chowdhury's? I'm asking because I have some sublte caucasian features that no one in my family has, but is evident in my appearance.

I know of a few Chowdhurys, some of them are darker and others are lighter. I'm in the U.S. It seems that, if the British were to 'engage' with any of the colonized people, it would be the wealthier ones. East Indians can look very different from each other and I have seen some that could pass as white, and some that could pass as east Asian. It's possible you have caucasian features because you have British descendents, but its also possible that you have those features because east Indian and caucasian people share a more similar background (way back).
