Talk to your doctor. I took Paxil while i was pregnant and everything was fine. Some Antidepressants are not good so make sure you check. Good Luck!

It is pretty much unknown. Recently, Paxil was changed to a higher risk category for causing birth defects and Prozac has also been th subject of some concerns over some circulation problems is the newborn. Unfortunately there is no way to ethically test medicines in pregnant women, so it is necessary to weight the risks. The truth is that severe depression is also hazzardous to the mother and the baby and the best approach is to discuss your worries with your doctor. If you weight the risks of the medicine ( small) against the risks of untreated depression, then it is probably appropriate to treat, but cautiously.

Well i was in your situation I came into this pregnancy with a lot on me already and they wanted to put me on a anti-depressant. I thought okay, this would be best for me, i can be happier and what not. Well i was looking @ the side effects and all that kinda stuff on it, and it reallly didnt sound healthy for my baby i am carrying. I was not that depressed and i knew i could pull through and get over my worries and problems without the pills. It was not worth taking the riskof my child coming out with something wrong with him just cause i couldn't find a different way to work out my problems. I am now 35 weeks pregnant and i am doing perfectly fine with out the pills. It makes me feel that much better knowing that my baby wont have any of the side affects the paper said he could have...
Soo i guess im trying to say is, Its not going to kill the baby but can affect him . If you feel you are going to hurt yourself in anyway then yes stay on them for yours and the babies sake, if you think you are O.K. then i wouldn't take them. I hope you this helps you!! and you can email me at anytime. jessicamaureendennis@yahoo.com

I just saw an ad on TV about a Class Action Lawsuit about Paxil. Many women that have taken this while prengnant have ended up giving birth to children that have heart defects and other pulminary problems. Doctors believed that they were safe. Unless your depression is severe I would not take the risk.

that depends on what youre taking. i took welbutrin sr with my son and he is fine. welbutrin sr is the same as welbutrin xl except you take it twice a day instead of once. the only way to be sure is to ask your Dr. good luck and dont stop taking them
