I recently applied for a job that is perfect for me!
The interview went really well....so much that the hiring manager wanted me to meet her boss!
She told me that a final decision would be made in a couple of weeks....however, one of my references told me that they were contacted today.
Does this mean they are close to making a decision?

Sounds like you may be in. IMPORTANT: ask your reference if the manager has been asking any questions about you. Do NOT ask your 'contact' to ask the hiring manager for 'inside info'. Such as, 'so how did the interview go?', Does he/she (you) look like you have a good chance?'. If the hiring manager is interested, that person will ask questions about you. Whew, hope that made sense. Good Luck

Congratulations on your new job :) If they are checking references, you are pretty much all but in. Expect an offer letter soon. An employer would not check references if they are serious about hiring you.

Absolutely.
Nobody checks references unless they are interested.
Once they get good positive feedback the next step will be to make you an offer.

Sounds right to me. I was asked by employer about one of my ex employees and he was hired very quickly
