I would also have to agree. I see enough adults on here that don't know anything about computers. How is a little kid going to know anything. I'm a computer whiz, and I didn't really know how to use a computer beyond a few simple games until I was 10. Any computer given to someone that young will become trash. Besides, the glare from monitors can severely injure children's eyes, just like a television.

Computers for that age are used more as a learning tool than for babysitting. We live in the computer age now. The earlier you get a kid on one, the more of an advantage they'll have later in life (if it's used right.)
Think about it a little. How many 12-13 year olds can run circles around IT pro's now? Many, very many!!
Don't judge what one does not know.

my son is 2 and very advanced for his age, i wont say he is gifted as he is to young to be tested for that, he knows how to count from 1-20,identifys colours, says most nursery rhymes fluently and has a vocab of way over 500 words
he plays educational games on my computer as a special treat at the end of the week if he has been good, his favourite is a wiggles game that teaches counting, shape recognition, memory, hand eye coordination, listening among other things
I dont see the harm in it aslong as its not interfering with his outside play and social life as these are important for any child
computers are a big part of life now and most people rely on them for everyday tasks, banking, shopping, school work and homework, cars etc even washing machines and fridges now come with computers, teaching a 2yr old how to use a simple computer is only going to make them more equipt for when they start school
like I said my son still has his outside play and social life,he only gets to go on the computer on a sunday for half an hr but only if he has been good

I agree with you completely. I think that parents are getting lazy these days. It is was easier to plunk a kid down in front of a TV or a PC then it is to play with them, go out and play sports, or read a good book. No wonder kids there days have no work ethic or responsibility, they are raised from early childhood to be lazy! And no, I'm not an old person, lol.

I agree with you 100%. Maybe they think they are helping their children get ahead. I played a lot with my daughter when she was young and let her use her imagination. There was this big hollow stump on our property. She would get a big stick and stir it and invite me to put things into it. She called it her witches brew. I always let my little ones play with play dough on the kitchen table. They played for hours under my watchful eye.

Hey. I could program in C++ when I was 5 months and design multi-task object oriented machine language when I was 9 months.
-Just kidding (needless to say) At that age I was still learning to suck my thumb.
I guess parents want to "be in" with the latest stuff.

I think little kids need friendships, sports, sunshine. Actually we adults also need these. Unfortunately we spend most of our spare time in watching TV. Too bad. Can't we really change ? Do you know your neighbors' names ? I don't.

Not a bad idea. The correct sites or programs might make for great stimuli and learning tools
