My daughter just threw up twice and her tummy is sore. I've given her half a gravol (as recommended on package) but not sure what to do to ease her sore tummy. It's 10:30 at night and I'm not going to run her to the hospital for a flu bug, just wondering what I can do to ease her upset tummy without any more medicine?
What would you do? (she's 7)

I have two girls, one 8 one ten. When they are feeling sick to their stomachs I do a few different things. First I don't feed them anything. Starve the flu, when they really need something it's room tempreture 7 up or sprite. For the sore tummy, when it's severe I lay their naked tummy against mine. My doctor told me years ago that this warmth is good for the body and the spirit of a sick child.

Other things I do to comfort my sick children, read to them, sing to them, put them in the bathtub, or or just play with their hair until they fall asleep.

I would try a tums or maybe just try to rub her back and comfort her. Crushed ice may help keep her hydrated if she can keep it down. Poor kid!

Now...I know this sounds dramatic, but keep a good eye on her. If her hands and feet get cold and she becomes very lethargic, you actually may need to take her to the hospital. I'm only saying this because my 3 year old nephew got a hold of a strep bacteria two weeks ago. He was sick (flu-like) and less than 2 days later, he was in the hospital near death. The strep bacteria got into his bloodstream and turned septic. They gave him plasma and a ton of other things, but he ended up on a ventilator. He came very close to dying but thank God, he was able to come home today. Three more kids came in with the same thing, the day before yesterday, so do watch her.

Throwing up is the bodies way of getting rid of toxins etc.Gravol would interfere with that happening. Try to get her to drink fluids, but i wouldn't give her any other meds. Not even Gravol.

Give her some pedilyte or ginger ale(let it get flat the carbonation won't help) she needs to be rehydrate. Try a hot water bottle to cuddle against her tummy I always find this helps(or a warm bath)

i have no idea what a gravol is but my 3 yr old son got a flu last week and i didn't give him any medicine except tylenol for his fever... it helps with pain but give her an ounce of pedialyte every half hour instead of letting he rkeep drinking a lot and it might stop the vomiting, that's what my doc told me to do and it helped a lot.

Ginger ale and saltine crackers are good when you are sick. Also hot tea. The tanic acid in tea is good for upset stomach.

If her stomach is physically sore from throwing up try applying something warm to her tummy.

Hope she feels better soon!

Some children are OK fast after vomiting, others need to wait before drinking or eating. Hopefully she can sleep well and wake up feeling fine.

Gravol is ginger extract isn't it? That's what works best for me.

Kids get sick, it is just something you have to get yourself through. as for your daughter, a small glass of carbonated pop, seems to help queasy stomachs, sleep is best cure.but don't give medications without professional advice
