Installed windows vista screwed up system cant go back to xp now what do I do???

There's no philosophical answer to that question. Try computers and Software. You should have backed your stuff up.

There are programs that can get data off a messed up drive - I recently updated(?) to XP finally, and a (Win '98) slave drive became unreadable. I found a program by Nucleus that could extract the information. But you need a good, well functioning drive to work from.
