I hang mine upside down. I use clothes pins to clip the bottom of the shirt to a wire hanger. Works great for me.

There's actually another dowside to hangers: If the edges of the hanger don't meet the shoulders of the shirt, they tend to stretch the area above the shoulders too!
But if you don't have any choice, try putting in the hanger on the "torso" portion and not the neck or sleeves part of the shirt. This will reduce the strain on the neck.
If you have the budget and the area, wires are still the best option.

buy hangars that extend to the side further. more support on the shoulder areas means less weight is hanging from the neck part.

Maybe try the larger plastic hangers. That way, the weight of the shirt will be more evenly distributed. Either that, or get a clothes hanging rack.

If you are talking about shirts with no buttons, put the hanger up in to the shirt, therefor avoiding stretching the neck.

Put the hangar up through the shirt from the bottom.

Lay them flat to dry. It takes up more space, but at least your clothes don't get ruined. Just lay a towel out on your counter and lay your clothes on it. After a couple of hours, turn them over.

get a dry mat. At walmart 4 like 15 bucks its a rack thingy that u lay the clothes on.....
