No, it wouldn't be a failure. If LA Galaxy does not win a title with Beckham, it would mean that the other MLS clubs have stepped up their performance. So if Beckham's presence in the MLS can make the other clubs work that much harder to show that they can beat LA Galaxy even without a big star player, then it's great for MLS as a whole. As far as LA Galaxy is concerned, title or no title, they'll benefit through increased merchandise and tickets sales and media attention and sponsorship from big companies.

LA Galaxy may fail to win a title while Beckham is there but that wont be a failure because he is a football start so match tickets will all be sold out to fans hence increased income.
His shirt number will be bought like nothing. The clubs' Income is going to more than tripple

I think that Beckham´s arrival to the US is to promote football only , if he wins that is a secondary objective; he is a money factory he already has won a major title; the 1999 Champions League, do you think he actually cares for a MLS title? No way; he should be still playing in Europe. Probably Victoria is more happy than he is, she knows that everybody hates her in Spain for her kind of "ugly american" attitude, don´t correct me; I know she is British. The thing is he knows no European team will pay that kind of money for an athlete in the final years of career; also he hardly will be England´s captain in 2010; and he has decided for a pleasant retirement in a league that is not as demanding as the Italian, German or English are.

My duess is that they got Beckham to get butts in seats
(earn more money than they lost!) Maybe a little for winning titles, I dunno, I don't pay too much attention to MLS and Beckham connections.

Yes, because they already won a title without him.
Winning a title isn't a big deal.
