Yup...for a 6 hour shift you get (1) 10 min. break and a half hour lunch. Unfortunately, many employers do not tell employees that. I can get you that actual Labor Laws for California. I have it somewhere in my 'favorites' folder. IM me if you are interested. Good Luck

According to info i was able to find on California's governmental website (see the link for the source), it looks like you have the option of a minimum 30 minute meal break:
"512. (a) An employer may not employ an employee for a work period of more than five hours per day without providing the employee with a meal period of not less than 30 minutes, except that if the total work period per day of the employee is no more than six hours, the meal period may be waived by mutual consent of both the employer and employee...."
Of course, I don't hold a degree in Law-Reading (nor do I live in California) so I can't exactly say for certain that there isn't some contradicting law somewhere or other. Hope this helps.

I do not know that law as the last I worked as an employee in California was as a Federal Worker, which has its own laws separate from those governing non-Federal workers. My last non-Fed employee job in California was awhile back - I got two ten minute breaks but I worked 8 hours. Also, it depends on whether you are hourly or salaried (flat $ per month regardless of hours, such as a management position). In the latter case they owe you neither a break nor overtime. If you are an hourly worker, you should generally have at least a 10 minute rest period for every 4 hours of work. See the references below, and if need be, contact the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement that is nearest to your home.

Go to the dept of labor web site. Should be the same as other states though. Ten minutes every 2 hours and not sure about the lunch break other than if not completely relieved of duties they must pay you for the time. So if you work 6 hours you should of had 2 ten minute breaks.

I don't know, with just working 6 hours a day you may not. But you maybe called for either a 15 or 30 minute break.

Yes, the law is you can work 6 hours without a break and go home. Eight hours and more you get breaks, lunch, etc. by law.

1 ten minute break after 4 hrs. and a 30 minute uninterupted meal break if you work 6 hrs. or more.
If you had been doing this for some time...you can sue the employer for damages.
