truth of the matter is, he is half black and half white...so, why don't they brag up the white half?

It stems from the one-drop rule really, and the idea that if a person looks black, they are black. Also in the U.S. many people claim to be native americans who are really only 1/2 or 1/4 and possibly less than that.

If he wasnt running he would be just another black person, like tiger woods even though he is is mixed, now that he has a chance, white people will start saying, "oh our President's biracial not black", just like you all did when Tiger Woods career started booming!

Why do "they" keep saying obama is the first black president to run?

~Who is they?
~I havent heard of people saying he is the first black president to run.
~Once again a white person cant stand a sucsseful black person getting attention. HEY any black person getting attention.

If Obama wasn't running for President he would be just a nother *****. Now that he might be on the ticket all of a sudden he is half white. White people made the one drop rule, now they want to complain about it.

Well actually if he is successful in the primaries and cacuses, then yes he would be the first, but actually Colin Powell I believe tried once but didnt make it to the top two in the elections that George Bush ended up winning in 2000.

Well, it is a known fact that if you got a little bit of black in you, you are black. That was carried over from slavery-times!Being politically correct.....He IS the first black to run for President!
