I've had two children. With my first one, my water broke at midnight (on my birthday!) My daughter was born at 8:29 p.m. (11 minutes after the time at which I was born) via c-section because of failure to progress (I simply couldn't push her out and was exhausted). If you consider the water breaking to be the beginning of labor, then I was in labor for about 19 hours before being taken to the OR for the c-section.
With my second one, I already had a scheduled c-section, since my doctor predicted that the second child would be larger than the first (and therefore even harder for me to have vaginally). My water broke 8 days before my scheduled c-section. I'm not sure at exactly what time my water broke, since this time it was more of a steady trickle than a sudden gush, and it took me a while to even figure out what was happening. But I know that I arrived at the hospital and had him via c-section about an hour and a half later. So I guess you could say I labored for a few hours.

Well, I've only had one child, and she took 15 hours.
My mom had me in 6 hours, the next in about 4 hours, the next in less than two... and with the last, she was in hard labor for about 22 minutes. However, she knew she was in labor before the pain really began, so even though the docs told her to go home, she stayed. Half an hour later, My baby brother was born.
All in all, I think thateach labor shortens with each child. It's a general rule of thumb, but things CAN happen that would hold up labor.

Some people say the second time around is easier. NOPE. I was in labor for 36 hours with my first baby. The second one was 30 hours, followed by an emergency C-section. Third time, I chose the C-section. I was not about to go through that again.

I had twin girls, was induced because they were past due. I started having contractions at about 8 am on a Friday morning, had the first twin natural at 656 pm Saturday night and the second twin by c- section at 516 am Sunday morning. I lost a lot of blood and had to have 3 units transfused not to mention a whole slew of other complications but I would do it all over again in a second.

This was my 1st child: At about 2 in the morning I woke up from a pain ended up being a contraction but I went back to sleep probably woke up a few more times but it was not too bad....I stayed home all day with contractions until about 11:30pm we went to the hospital then @ 5:58am I had my son.
Total hours for when I first felt a contraction about 28 hours. Sounds real bad but I did everything I usually do in a day the day I was having contractions it didn't really start to get bad untill 6-7pm.

My first labor was t wo hours and twenty five minutes from start to finish. My second was one hour and twenty four minutes from start to finish. Both were induced; I don't know if that had anything to do with it. My third labor was about one and a half hours, but he was too big to have naturally; I tried to push him out for two hours, then had C Section My fourth labor was C Section by choice since it was revealed on ultrasound that he would be nine pounds. He was nine pounds and eight ounces. Hope this helps you.

I've only had 1 child, was in labor 5-1/2 hours, the last 2-1/2 was hard labor. The nurse told me that I had extreamly hard and fast labor especially for a 1st child.

Lets see. It's true for me anyway when they say sex induces labour. My hubby and I had sex on a Monday, the next day I felt pelvic pain. On Wednesday I started to get contractions, but didn't really know they were contractions just thought they were lower ab pain. Thursday morning I had my OB apt, he said everything was fine. Thursday evening I started getting really bad contractions, they were 10 mins apart, called the birthing centre and they said I was ok and to come in if I want to. By 8 pm my contractions were very bad they were 5 mins apart then by 10-11 they were 2 mins apart. I was hurting. My hubby was timing and we kept calling and they kept telling us to come in and I said no not yet not until I see my mucus plug. By 2 am Friday morning I told my hubby to go to bed b/c he had to work the next day. I couldn't sleep the contractions came and went. The last contractions I had (at home) I threw up. I went to the bathroom to go pee and i noticed a black thing and called the birthing centre and they told me to come in b/c it sounds like my mucus plug came out. i woke my hubby up at 2:05 (poor guy). Took my first hospital bag and off we went. When I got there they checked and i was 3 cms dialated that was 3-4 am. They told us that we are having a baby today, we couldn't believe it. I was moved into a labour room, they broke my membrane so my labour would come faster but the contractions would be stronger. I got laughing gas and epidural and had my baby girl at 2 pm on Friday. It didn't seem long but it was. She's my first child. Till this day I still can't believe I went through something like that.

every labor is different. I was in labor for just 4 hours with my 1st. I was dilated to 9.5 when I arrived at the hospital. i had him completely natural. no pain medication,no stitches,i didn't tear, and i only pushed for 12 minutes.he is now 17yrs. old. my 2nd child was 5 hours. i had some pain medication. she was delivered forehead first instead of the crown of her head. I pushed for about 20 minutes with her. I did tear and needed stitches. it hurt the worst. i was also induced.she is now 14 and finally my last child now 3 it was 5 hrs also. I had an epidural and loved every minute of it. I pushed him out in 3 pushes.

First: induced at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia; labor induced at 5:30 Monday morning; daughter delivered, via emergency C-section, at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. 52 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, fetal and maternal distress, C-section.
Second: preeclampsia developed again; couldn't induce because of prior C-section, plus skeletal abnormality discovered during first birth would likely make vaginal delivery with a good outcome impossible; scheduled C-section at 38 weeks.
