I posted about a month ago stating that my blazer was making a clunking noise every 50ft or so only in 4x4. I recently tried the 4x4 again and all the display lights come on (floor mount) and i can hear the transfer case click in and hear the front axle turn however there is no power to the front tires? What could this be? If anyone knows about or has experienced this problem please help.
Thank you

I had a similiar problem on a 91 Explorer. If you have automatic front locking hubs the hubs will engage and disengage about every 50' to relieve the presure that has built up from the slight difference in speed of the front and rear axle. The noise mine made was a clunking noise. I changed the auto-hubs for manual locking hubs. .If the front axles are spinning and the wheels are not one of your front hubs has broken and is not locking the wheel with the front axle

i own a repair shop, and these have an actuator that actually makes the front differential lock in so it will turn both the front axles on it,if its not kicking in,the actuator has to not be working on it,i know this because i own an s-10 with the same system on it,and even though the front drive shaft turns on it doesn't mean the front two axles are going to turn, these are tricky ones to get right, you may have to take it and have it checked to get to the bottom of whats causing it not to come in,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Could be the locker in the differential releasing built up torque from driving on hard surfaces.

The ONLY time you should have it in four wheel drive is on slippery, muddy, snowy, or icy roads. NOT dry pavement.

You could have a busted ring gear or pinion in the differential.
