I want to mail out our wedding invites in black envelopes. But I just wasn't sure if you could mail these as an outer envelope? So anyway, please help :) I don't want to buy these if we can't use them as the outer envelope. Thank you!!

I plan on using gold ink for the addresses...

You can mail black envelopes with gold lettering, but they are not very automation compatible in the postal process. Is the gold ink going to be printed or calligraphy? Calligraphy on black is likely to kick many into "loop" mail which will cause delays in delivery.

Many will arrive with lim-lim code stickers printed with a bar code on white stickers, which kind of destroys the dramatic effect you paid for.

If I were you I'd stick to the traditional white or ivory and save some dollars for another expense.

The only problem I can forsee in this situation is that your envelopes might be slightly delayed if the computers can't read the barcodes sprayed onto the envelope. I wouldn't worry too much though, I've seen much stranger things than a black envelope during my deliveries. ;-)

Yes you can. As long as the address is readable and you have the correct postage.
