Satellite has "propogational delay", the time that it takes for a signal to go up to the satellite 155,000 miles above the equator, then back down somewhere. This can mean several seconds delay, such as if you have ever placed a call overseas and end up talking over each other because you are waiting for the other person to stop talking and that person actually stopped talking several seconds ago.

Most of the time, with web browsers or email, you may not notice much, except a small delay while you are waiting for the results after a click. But, with live chat or games, the delay is horrible.

I don't recommend satellite internet for ANYTHING.

yes satellite broadband causes lags and so you will possible get stop start sort of thing.

the lag time depends on the connection you have etc. if you check out your provider's page they will explain about lag times with satellite.

we too have it and can't wait for ADSL to be available. satellite bb is about 4 times the price but the only thing available in our rural but not so remote area.
