Still have to start with cosmetology. Those classes get onto some pretty neat stuff. The teachers have connections for seminars that teach you to be a makeup artist.

Maybe theatre or visual arts? I thought about doing something similar and I read a few sites that mentioned those things. You may also want to take some make up artistry classes or even look up one of those theatrical make up schools. I know its a really nice one in New York. I did some quick searches, but I can't find the link.
