Make sure to just keep pumping the more you do it the more milk you will produce. Even just a little Breast milk will help your baby. It took me three months to produce enough milk to excullsivly breast feed my son. At times I felt real guilty like I was being a bad mom for not making enough milk for him and I had to give him formula. It is a tough job to nurse a baby no one really tells you that!!!
I am a bad pumper.....I jsut don't really get the results that I want. My lactation counsler told me that I should really "disconnect" myself form the pump meaning close my eyes really think about my baby nursing not about how I am connected to a machine.
Try taking "FenuGreek" it is a over the counter supplement that should help with your milk production. You have to take it like 3 times a day but it worked for me.
One glass of red wine at night will help with your milk by morning you should have more.
Or "Brewers Yeast" this works. if you can't find that drink a glass of very dark beer that has a lot of that yeast in it and will really help with your milk. Not trying to get you drunk here LOL that is just some suggestions my Lactation Lady gave me when I was having problems.
Congratulations on your new baby and good luck to you! Good luck with bFing too it can be done it just might take some time!

I had the same problem...don't worry it will be OK. It's very hard to pump enough milk in the beginning you will get the hang of it. Just make sure to do it every 3 hours and drink plenty of fluids. As for your baby latching I used a nipple shield. It's an incredible invention and all of the other mom's in the NICU were using it as well. It's a soft plastic that fits over your nipple and helps your baby to latch. Preemie's mouths are so tiny, it's hard for them to latch onto a nipple for a few weeks. I got mine at the hospital but since then I have seen them at Toy's R Us. If you can't find it there, call the La Leche league and ask if they know where to get one in your area - trust me these help. I went through 2 weeks of pumping when my son was born because he couldn't latch on his own, after using the nipple shield he latched right away - and 3 feedings later he was almost doing a full feeding from me.
I know it's hard but keep trying it's so worth the effort. Good luck and congrats on your beautiful baby.

Make sure you rent a hospital-grade pump made specifically for use with preemies whose only food source is pumped breastmilk. These pumps are different from your everyday pump and can get the milk much more efficiently, too.
Also, if you need help increasing your supply, check out the links below.
I also included a few links to information about hospital-grade pumps and information about breastfeeding premature babies.
Good luck and I hope your little one gets stronger so that she can latch on soon!

Pump, pump and pump some more. The thing with breast feeding is that the milk will increase as the demand increases. I promise, just pump as often as you can and make sure you drink plenty of fluids. That's huge. People forget to drink enough. Water, juice and/or milk. Not too much alcohol or drinks with caffeine, they will make you pee more than other drinks. Good luck !

Have patience and don't give up. If your stressed the milk won't come. Make sure you drink plenty of water milk and juice and eat a good diet with plenty of fruits and veggies. I played soft lullaby music when I had to pump milk. It helps to be calm and think of the baby to get the milk flowing. My friend had to use a bottle nipple to place over her own to help her son attach. You may wanna try.

how long have you been trying? if you have a really new baby, it will take some time to establish a good supply. plus, brand new babies do not need more than you are producing in the beginning. drink lots of water and pump whenever you can. frequent pumping is the only way that you can build up a better supply.

First of all you have to relax, the more upset you get (and I understand why you would) the more it will hold back. I heard placing warm compress on them. But see your OB doc too, it may be you just cant produce. I hope you find it working, I know that can be a beautiful bonding experience. Good luck
