A mixture of baking soda and water is the cheapest way, auto parts stores have battery terminal cleaners. After removing the residue, spray the terminals and cable connectors with WD-40 and it won't happen again.

Make a mixture of baking soda and water be carefull not to get it in the battery or you will kill the cells, or you can buy a spray can of acid neutralizer at most parts stores.

They make brushes for to clean both the posts on the batter and the cables that connect it to the car. You can also use Coke or Pepsi to eat it away. It will be cleaner then when it was new.

If the battery is dead, buy a new one
If the battery is good, use baking soda and hot water, but make sure you rinse it all off or the acid will eat more than your battery!

two ways...coca-cola (i know people will disagree with me) or baking soda with a small bit of water. with either of these, get a small brush, (i use an old toothbrush) and clean the terminals with the brush and the coca-cola or baking soda/water AFTER the fizzing has stopped.

You can pour a soda on it or scrub it with a brush and baking soda.
