I was given tulips for Valentines...but they are now past their prime! I want to save the bulbs...do you simply cut the stems off?

Also, is it OK to now plant them outside (they came in a planter) and will they bloom again? Or should I wait until next year to plant them?

If I need to store them until next year, what is the best way??? Wrapped in newspaper???

If you trim the tulips they do not get all the nutrients to last for next year. Just let them die naturally. When they dry you can pull the dead leaves off easily. Pull them out of the pot and wash the bulbs and seperate them. Let them dry completely
on paper towels. Place them in your dehydrator drawer until fall and plant them so they will come up in spring. Putting them in the refrigerator makes them think it is winter and they will go dormant until you take them out and plant them. Good luck, mine are coming up outside already.

tulips are meant to be interior the floor all throughout the time of the 12 months I stay in Montana and we've had a fantastically chilly spring and top now I even have tulips comming up approximately 2 inches out of the floor in case you have in basic terms had them interior the floor a million 12 months supply them yet another danger to bloom in case you start up planting and run in to a bulb in basic terms bypass away it on my own till the bulb seems comfortable no rely if it extremely is comfortable(like delicate)meaning it extremely is ineffective yet once you do discover bulbs there often could be some green enhance on them now. bypass forward and plant by the time any of your flowers are huge the bulbs could have been carried out blooming by then.
