period irregularity is the reflection of the balance of your two female hormones. due to many reasons, the pituitary glands may not produce the right amount of controlling hormone to regular the productions of the estrogen and progesterone. this is what cause the irregularity.
if you are not in need to have kids, it should not affect your daily routines and many women actually take advantages of their irregularity as some bonus freedom.

As a person who's had irregular periods for quite some time, you need to goto your doctor to make sure that there isn't a specific reason, but I would not worry about it too much because you are only 15. The first thing you need to do though is tell your mom or if that's not possible tell your dad you need to see a gynecologist because you want to see a professional. My sister had irregular periods also and while I didn't have anything causing it, she had cysts. Your doctor is the best person to tell you that you are going through normal puberty.

Every female is different so it could be your normal.
If you aren't sexually active, I wouldn't be too concerned with it as long as you aren't having extremely heavy bleeding when you do have your period.
If you are athletic, stressed, or on medication for anything, that can make your periods irregular.
You are old enough to go have a pap smear done if it really worries you. Talk to your mom. It may be a family normalcy.

My girlfriend has the same problem. We are older than you, and it was a big problem for her to get pregnant because of this problem. You should definitely see a doctor to discuss what is going on with your body. If for nothing else, you can have peace of mind. Your doctor will probably put you on the pill to see if that helps regulate things.
