which version do you think would be the best to watch that would relate to the book the most as well.

There's a really good version made in 1946 that sticks very close to the book.

Anthony Hopkins appeared in a mini-series version of it in 1989 that was very good also.

The 1946 version is by David Lean, one of the great British directors. It's very good, on many counts, but like all movies, it leaves out major hunks of plot, characters, etc. Hard to fit a book as large as GE into a two-hour film.

depends on what version you get..i saw an old one and it was as good if not better than the book...but its rare to find since it was on disney
