i am hooking up cable internet to both my computer and xbox, it is cheaper to buy two cable modems than the whole wireless thing, so i am wondering, can I use two cable modems in one house from the same cable line in two different rooms?

You can really only have one cable modem working at a time, unless you've got two accounts.

You will need one cable modem to get access to the internet, then you should have a router (wireless or not) to connect both computers and game consoles. You can get a decent Netgear router for around $50 new, so that shouldn't be too bad. A lot of times, if you sign up with a VOIP company like Vonage, you can get the wireless router for very little (or free).

absolutely imagine the answer is certain on all fronts, except the area the position you do not ought to pay. you need to be in a position to split the cable with a $5 area, yet they're going to pick some $ for the more suitable pipe to be opened. i imagine it really is the way it truly works. i comprehend for positive that you need to be in a position to have 4 pcs and some Vonage appropriate to a 10 meg pipe and not at all have any type of genuine issues on the downslope. That 512 up is what's killing you. My opinion: drop the more suitable IP address, pay your thanks to at least a million.5 up, be performed.
