How dare religion try to dip its dirty fingers into Hollywood, Politics, Education, Science, and anything else labeled threatening to your religious brainwashing.
I'm not sorry in the least that i have the ability to think for myself, and that i have the intelligence to not be blindly led through my life like a sheep. I'm sorry you feel the need to label anything you dont understand or like as evil, it really limits you to a small, narrow view of the world. But then again, to people of your questionable IQ, you cant comprehend that there is more to the world than your little piece of bible belt.
Edit: Thank you for proving my point with your comment in your edit. You just want to do away with anything you dont agree with. You know who else wants to do that? The Islamic radicals planning attacks on this country, and the Taliban in Afghanistan who dont like women in schools, or even in public, and think that anyone who doesnt think their way should die. and a host of others.
Maybe its time to take a look at your values again buddy.

Well, Leo and Slits_Throats, you should be able to comprehend easily that this question has everything to do with astronomy and space. You see, movies about astronomy and space (even in the science fiction gendre) tend to rely ever so much on science and ever so little on belief in a man living beyond the clouds manipulating everything from afar.
Films like "The Right Stuff" and "Apollo 13" certainly do corrupt good old family values and destroy belief of the right kind, don't they?
And of course, movies like "Norma Rae" and "North Country" show the hard work of women who work in the factories and mines that keep this country afloat and breed good family values, etc....
It's hard to go to a movie complex these days or flip through the TV stations without seeing at least one movie or TV show that panders to the mass delusion of religion in some form. Movies or shows about angels or saints living among us or ghosts visiting the living to do good or right wrongs abound.
And all of the above is being brought to you by none other than that Hollywood our questioner so abhors! Without Hollywood, how would all those messages, some subtle and others blatant, be getting pounded into our consciousness and the consciousness of youngsters unable to make mature judgments about such matters?
I'll offer a deal: I'll support the silencing of negative propaganda about religion if our questioner will support the silencing of positive propaganda about religion. But let me throw in one other thing: the pushers of religion will have to give up their religious organization's tax exemptions if they expect me to give up my rights. Without the very liberal tax exemptions granted religious organizations by federal, state and local governments, most religious operations would have to fold up in a hurry. There are very few whose congregations donate enough to make their ministries viable and those that can would probably have to require larger donations or start charging full costs + profit for ministerial services and church schools.

I think Hollywood should make more meaningfull movies to create awareness about what is really happening out there like Babel. Not only they can gain a good reputation & make quick bucks but they also can help to contribute back to society as well. Btw, Departed was filmed based on the storyline by the movie Infernal Affairs from Hong Kong, and not Japan as mentioned in the Academy, recently.

Yes you are right about the film makers of America. They should be held accountable for their actions. But when the film makers of America make a fictitious movie about terrorism, why is it , that the weak minded Muslims pick up on the idea and fly planes into buildings in large cities. And why is it in the Muslim world that Muslim women have almost no rights what so ever, for instance , a woman needs , how many, 2 witnesses in her rape case. And judging by your last sentence, you are no American Patriot. I think that the Muslim people should be held accountable for their actions.Hopefully all the action that should happen is that all the Muslim suicide bombers should blow themselves up in separate incidents where the bomber is the only casualty

The movie industry gives the world what it wants to pay to see and nothing more or less. The world loves Karate Films, Explosions, Car Chases, buddy films, girl flick comedies, John Trivolta clenching his teeth and talking through them, Tom Cruise grinner and Vin Diesel being Vin Diesel.

The "Old America" ?? If you want to know who has destroyed families ask yourself why it takes two people to work today to support the family and why you work on Sunday and take so little time off to spend with your family. Don't blame Hollywood for that. Blame your desire for MORE,MORE,MORE.

No, I don't think Hollywoood is corrupting America. The only corruption I see are intolerant people who label people who don't happen to share their religious beliefs as evil--who call for the silenceing of differing opinions. Those kind of people are opposed to Americas basic values of freedom of speech, of religion---of individual liberty.

There is merit to what you say, but it is the American people who are buying this kind of thing. There would be no benefit to silencing Hollywood forcibly.
If this stuff were not making a profit, Hollywood would not produce it.
I'm not trying to discourage you; quite the contrary. We need to work harder at expressing our values.

I think it some how it makes them feel better about there lives if they show everybody living like they do. The only way to silence them is to stop paying for the movies. The religious group need to continue to use this media to promote the good message.

I agree with slits, what does this have to do with astronomy? Of course astronomy took part on belief when the Greeks observed the sky, but you are way off.
