i am doing a project on allergic reations in spas.. any help would be much appriciated

The heat and humidity in most spas are perfect breeding grounds for many molds and bacterias.

...Or the soaps and other chemicals people use before entering a spa.

It depends on what kinds of smells you're talking about, really.

bacteria. You should wash a spa after it has been used with a disinfectant. My mum works for a 5 star hotel and after a guest leaves they have to fill the spa add a chemical turn it on to run the jets for a couple of minuetes to make the chemical go through and then drain the water.

Sometimes when the containers used in pedicures etc are not cleaned before they are re-used fungus etc can grow inside causing smells and also infection :(
