All thes people are saying good anime but I recomend I's, Hama Kiri and Sakura card Captor as romantic anime. I's is my favorite because it is funny and full of misunderstandings but very real. Not soap opera. The fact is that anime is very varied so you should just grab a volume one, start reading it and see if you like it or not

1. bleach (my fav. anime..yeah!!its more to action..fight fight fight!!and its funny!!)
2. gintama (funny like hell!)
3. inuyasha (action, funny and kinda romantic..)
4. full metal alchemist (action, comedy)
5. trinity blood (a little action, kinda romantic..)
6. fruits basket (err..very lovey dovey one..)
7. sailormoon (action chicks, lovey dovey also)
8. 100% ichigo (teen love)
9. xxxHolic (magic, and a little teen love)
10. naruto (action, funny)
11. samurai girl (action high skool kids, teen love)
and here are my other favs, if you want to watch them (i like shounen type anime)
ghost in the shell, night head genesis, hellsing,death note, basilisk, gundam seed too much to list! i'm an anime freak!
