Orajel is an over-the-counter oral anesthetic intended for relief of toothaches and oral sores. Its main ingredient is benzocaine. Described as "Mouth Sore Medicine" on the product itself, this description is somewhat deceiving. Because the active ingredient is Benzocaine, a local anasthetic, the product only proves to temporarily numb the area which it is applied to, rather than eliminate the pain itself

It numbs your skin to soothe pain, commonly used for inside the mouth. But I can be used on the skin anywhere. I think the active ingredient is novacane (sp?), which is used in dentists offices to numb your mouth before they work on cavities (at least when I used to go to the dentist as a tyke). I wouldn't know if they switched to something else since I don't have any damn insurance to cover dental visits.

You havent ever used it for a toothache? It is a gel to numb the pain in ur teeth/gums. In teeth dept at wal-mart, target, etc

It's a temporary topical painkilling gel that comes in a tube. You can get it at any drugstore. It's good for babies who are teething or for anyone with a toothache.

He he, you can also have someone put it on their lips and it gets REALLY tingly and numb. he he. tis a good prank :)
