If the bridge is rated for that weight then nothing would happen as it would be able to withstand much more weight than its rating before collapsing.
Otherwise it would have collapsed before the bird got to it as the weight of the driver would have pushed the limits long before it got to the middle.

No, 'cause it used up the amount of gas that the bird weighed.

At first I was thinking yes, because the bird adds weight to the bus. But this is a riddle, and I realized the bridge is a mile long, and half way across takes up a good amount of gas, making it that much lighter.

The bridge shouldn't collapse as long as the weight of the bird is less than the fuel spent in the half a mile drive.

First things first, hey 5uper5tar. . .the bus is holding the weight of the bird, not the bridge?!? If the bus is on the bridge, then the bridge is as well.

Secondly, Euopean or African swallow?

THE GAS MILEAGE OF 14,000 LBS IS PROBABLY ~5MPG SO BY THE TIME IT REACHES 1/2MI IT USED UP ~0.1 GALLON OF GAS; FROM DENSITY KNOWLEDGE IT WEIGHS A FEW 1-3POUNDS, WHICH IS EQUAL TO A TYPE OF BIRD THAT YOU DIDN'T SPECIFY!!!!!!!! SO NOW, IT MUST BE SAID WITH THE EVER POPULAR PHRASE "IT DEPENDS!" (I'M ASSUMING THE FUMES FROM BURNING THE GASOLINE/DIESEL VENTS UP INTO THE AIR IN THE FORMS OF CO2, ETC)

I agree with the gas theory although I wouldn't have been able to come up with that. Good thinking!!
