When a bookstore has a Midnight opening for the book is it 12am everywhere. Or is it midnight on the east coast and 8pm on the west coast?

It will be 12:00 a.m., local time, wherever you are. That's the contractual requirement.

Although, this does kind of suck. When the last book was released, someone on the East Coast read the ending, then told his friend on the West Coast. The West Coast guy got some buddies together and drove around to bookstores where people were waiting in line. As they drove past, they gave away the ending, screaming, "Dumbledore dies! Snape kills Dumbledore!" It really pissed off a lot of people.

Yes, no doubt they will have them. They've had them for previous HP books. It's midnight local to the bookstore. Otherwise, everyone in the U.S. would get them close to a day early when they release them in Australia.

Franchise bookstores definitely will.

If you don't want to go to one of the parties and have one with your friends then I suggest that you reserve one at a franchise bookstore with your friends and have your own party where you take turns reading it out loud.

It will probably be released midnight for every separate time zone I am guessing.
