For me it depends how they are in captivity. If they are in open areas where they have some freedom to move around, I don't feel so bad. If they are caged up or confined to small areas then I feel bad. But I also think that if it wasn't for peoples chance to see elephants in the first place (an those are usually the caged up ones) then people probably wouldn't be sympathetic to the elephants that are in the wild.

the elephants here in the US have better lives than quite a few citizens of this country. They don't have to do anything but walk around, eat, sleep. They are very docile, like attention and affection, and as long in captivity as they do in the wild, but with their offspring guaranteed to survive.
Also, any cage an elephant may be in is not going to be a small, its a freakin elephant

Me i have seen to many healthy and in the wild
to see a circus elephant or in a zoo is very sad
compared to the natural setting
and elephants are very inteligent
like very big babies

well it depends how they are kept, elephants can have it bad in the wild also with droughts, poaching, attacks, loss of habitat. but if they are in a small cage with no activitys it would be bad too, so i guess it depends on the situation

i feel bad for the ones in small cages, but if they are in big places to run arond and have fun...be feed and played with i dont feel as bad....but some things arnt meant to be in cages at all and i think they are one of thos things........
