When G-d decides to snuff out the sun and we all freeze to death or get eaten by alien ice creatures who teleported through a wormhole in the solar system looking for frozen food.
Please...what kind of question is that?

It was meant to be on Valentines Day in Paramus New Jersey in 1999 (or something like that).
But as we are a planet of procrastinators, the end of the world probably won't happen for at least a hundred million more years (give or take a century).
Earth basically just means ground. A lot of the doomsayers with global warming are actually predicting a future climate that will eventually be too warm to keep water as a liquid. So, the ground will stay, but the oceans may evaporate (after all the ice caps melt).
And even if this planet blows up (or collides or whatever), there are other planets that have earth on them (pretty much all of them in fact). So the whole universe needs to cease for earth to.

The Earth has the ability to survive almost anything. It will be around for a long time. The people of the Earth will be gone long before the Earth ceases to exist. They will pollute the air and the water so bad that they can't survive.

When I was a girl, my friend's mom was sure it was going to end in 1975. I was sad, cuz then I couldn't grauate from high school or get married or anything. But then, 1975 came and the earth did not cease being. So the next possible date everyone thought about was the stroke of midnight on New Years Day the year 2000. Nope, still here.
I think though, that if you consider the life of the earth as being a week long, we are definitely up to Saturday night now.

Don't worry, finish your drink and sleep well with your sig. other, as near as my nearest calculations are concerned we have about 1 billion years until we surpass all possible supportive technology to keep mankind alive and we vanish as a species. After that, if you believe in the great beyond, we can watch from afar as we sip our celestial margaritas for the next 4 billion years until the planet is consumed in a flaming ball of fire. But hey! 12 billion years existence as a planet is a pretty good run!

No man knows the time nor the hour. Only God knows that. Just keep searching your Bible, and be ready when He comes.
