It should be clear or slightly off-colored. If it is ANY other color, go to the E.R. immediately. It means that your baby is in distress, and the possibility of stillbirth or an infection rises greatly.

it should be a clear and odorless. if its any other color, there could be mecorin (spelling?) in it, which means the baby had a bowel movement (pooped or possibly peed) and if u dont deliver soon it could cause an infection. so if u think ur water broke, go straight to the hospital and tell them if it wasnt a clear color or if it smelled strange

It is supposed to be clear. If it is greenish it means there could be some infection. The docter had to break mine for me so I never actually saw my own. (Hard to see part the belly when laying down in a hospital bed.)

It should be clear...as the other person said.. I know that if it is green then the baby has had a bowel movement in the amniotic fluid which is not good if the baby gets that in his/her lungs.
