Are you happy that the Academy FINALLY recognized Martin Scorsese as best director? Why do you think they waited so long to give him an Oscar?

Yes, but I still think it was a sympathy vote because he hadn't gotten it after so many nominations.

Not at all. I believe he is a mediocre director at best. "The Departed" was a decent movie but not academy worthy. If you would have taken Martin Scorsese's name off that film, it wouldn't have been in the awards. The same with "Babel" If that movie was filmed without big names like Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, It wouldn't have had as much recognition.

Yes, definitely so. He and Robert Altman belong to the very precious and most creative group of American Filmmakers that the HOLLYWOOD Academy voters had shamefully overlooked for too long!

Yeah, he's a great director and I'm glad he got one finally.
I don't think they "waited". He just got beaten. Some of the movies we was nominated for didn't deserve it (Like Gangs of NY). His best one (Taxi Driver) wasn't even nominated.

yes i'm glad it was long over due why it to so long i have no idea but it's the only reason i watched last night I was so happy for him he is the best

yes, he deserved this Oscar, but Raging Bull and Taxi Driver were awesome movies too...
