help me on this problem

-165= A-97
my teacher said to do it in a fraction way for example something like this

23A=46
Ax23=46
1/23(A23)=1 1/23(46)=2
A=2

Fraction way? Our teachers never taught us that.

I would add the opposite of the -97. You're subtracting it, so you have to add 97 to get it to the other side, giving:

-165+97=A

Simply solve the left side of the equation...

-165+97= -68

And put the answer on the left instead of -165+97.

-68=A

If you don't have to do it in fraction form, the above way is the most used and probably the easiest.

I think 97 is a prime number so you can't do it in a factor way
97 won't divide into 165. 165 is divisible by 5 but 97 is not.
If I were you I would run it like a regular equation:

-165 = A - 97 is the same as
A - 97 = - 165 (flip around maintain signs)

now add 97 to both sides
A - 97 + 97 = - 165 + 97

the 97's on the "A" side cancel each other out
A = 97 - 165
A = - 68 (answer)

rearrange it ,

A -97 = -165
A = -165+ 97
A= -68

simple if -165=A-97 you would add 97 to both sides leaving you with -68=A

ok dude all i can give u is an answer ur teach wnts ur wrk so u do the wrk and the answer is:

a=-68

Btw next time try doin the wrk to figure out the answer
