Pregnancy is definitely not the time to decide to diet or continue actually "dieting". You can change the foods you eat, for example eating fresh veggies and produce as opposed to chips and junk food. But never go without eating or cut back on food when you are hungry. Just eat more of the stuff thats good for you. I'm currently 39 weeks and everything that I ate before, like fast food and junk food, my baby made me throw back up. He's treating my body better than I did before I got pregnant!:) I've lost 22 lbs. since I first found out I was pregnant and my Dr. has told me that when you are overweight to begin with, its not that uncommon to lose weight due to change in appetite or morning sickness. As long as the baby is getting all it needs that's what matters most. My baby is still 8lbs even thought I've lost 22 and his heartbeat is good and strong.

You really shouldn't try to lose weight while you are pregnant. It's not good for the baby. If you can tr to maintain your weight, or stay within a reasonable weight gain, say between 20-30 pounds, you should be okay. Much more than that, depending on how overweight you are now would be hard to lose, and uncomfortable. More importantly, it will make you more susceptible to have gestational diabetes. That's diabetes that you get when you are pregnant. It does go away after you deliver, but it's a big pain during the pregnancy and has some very serious potential consequences for the baby.

Well I am over weight also and had been losing weight for the last year and a half but once I got pregnant the weight loss stopped on its own even though I've only gained 1 pound and am 27 weeks along my ob/gyn said everything is fine normally if your over weight they give you a diet they would like for you to follow but I basically started out losing weight at the begining of the pregnancy but it gradually stopped and stayed at one specific weight, my baby boy is very healthy and chuncky according to the ultra sound pictures. I would say dont diet but watch what you eat and listen to your doctors they will tell you what is best...Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!!

I wouldn't diet while pregnant. However, now would be a great time to change your eating habits, so after the baby is born you are already eating what is healthy for you so you can start loosing weight a bit faster. You can also do light exercises while pregnant as long as you are comfortable doing them. Don't do a whole lot of tummy exercises though, you could strain something and it would be pretty painful. If you start living healthier now, it will be easier to maintain it when you are frazzled with caring for a newborn because it's something you are already accustomed to.

I too was dieting before I found out I was pregnant. I think you should concentrate more on eating healthy. You may still lose weight without endangering the baby but more importantly you will be setting up yourself for good eating patterns after the baby so you can continue to lose weight. BTW, my baby was fine despite the dieting but I don't advise it.

If by diet you mean eating more healthily and beginning an exercise plan, talk to your doctor but it should be acceptable. If your pregnancy is going along well, you can exercise moderately. You shouldn't lose weight, but you can help you child be healthy and begin healthy habits for post-pregnancy.

It is not healty to diet while you are pregant unless you are advised by your doctor. Even if you are over weight you are to gain weight to have a healthy pregnancy. You can lose weight if you have really bad morning sickness, but if you arent sick you should be gaining. You may gain less than the average person, but you should still gain.

i never liked the word "diet". you should just eat healthy. stay away from fast and junk foods. some places offer excerise classes for moms to be. working out in the water is a great thing, becuase you dont put the strain on your body.
