I have an ipod... i hate it.
I don't like the fact that the ipod only works with itunes, plus i keep accidentilaly deleteing all mp3 files when i link to a pc. (bad feature on itunes).
Anyway question. Can you link a zune to a pc/mac without any software and tranfser files in the same way as you would an external harddrive. This is an excellent feature I had on my old mp3, not shared on the ipod.

Okay I don't know but you don't have to use iTunes with your iPod, I used to use a microsoft music thing. I think the Zune is great though, I've tried at got used to it in an instant. Honestly I'd switch my iPod nano for a Zune any day,

I would recommenced the Zune. It's a great MP3 player but it forces you to use the Zune software. A worse version of iTunes. With a hack you can make the Zune show up as a harddrive, it doesn't out-of-the-box, but you cannot transfer and sync.

I'd be surprised if you could Zune at all with a Mac, and I'm sure you'll need some superfluous program to use it on a PC, because it's Microsoft and that's what they do. But if you don't want your iPod, I'll gladly take it.

The reason why MP3's are being deleted from you iPod is because you are deleting them from your iTunes library, that kind of feature is a agrivating feature but, hey, if you delete them out of your library, apple thinks you dont want it on you pod either. But I love my iPod video!!!
