A good idea is to work backwards. 0+4=4 x 2 =8 + 4 = 12 +6 = 18 +4 = 22 +11 = 33

33 is the answer

33, bear eats 1/3 (11), 33-11= 22, you eat 4, 22-4= 18, the bear eats a third (6) 18-6=12, you eat 4, 12-4=8 , the bears eat half of whats left (4) 8-4= 4, then you eat 4 more 4-4=0 and none is left 0=0

Work backwards. If you ate four and there was nothing left then four was what you were left with after the bear ate one half. Therefore it was eight. Before that you ate four. 4 + 8 =12. The teacher in me will not solve this for you but hopefully this is a good start for you.

Please clarify your question.

bear eats 1/3 - that makes sense.
you eat 4 - what does that mean? 4 what?
