Get him a thoughtful book, or a journal. Also maybe write a short fun quiz for him that includes random inside jokes or cute things about your relationship. Give him the answer key and tell him you'll 'grade' it when he gets home :)

things that will remind him of you and home......some favorite snacks.....if someone i know is leaving i hide a little note in something that they won't find till they get there later telling them that i love them or that i hope they will do good.....something like that.......pictures are always good cause he can look at them when ever he misses you........phone cards are almost a must.....hope that gives you some ideas good luck
