a Massachusetts rep wants to do away with the don't ask don't tell rule in the military... and allow those that were kicked out for being gay to rejoin... some military officials believe that having openly gay people could disrupt the cohesiveness or a unit! What is your opinion, without considering the fact that its discrimination, because i thought the military discriminated over smaller things like tattoos in the wrong place and flat feet! do you think people should be allowed to be openly gay in the military...?

homosexuality cannot legally keep someone out of te military... its just you can't ask someone if they are gay, you can't tell someone you are gay. and you cannot pursue your homosexual life style on base or with other military personnel!

The "don't ask, don't tell" rule is valid. I do believe that openly gay people could disrupt the cohesiveness of the unit and these people really don't belong in the military. But as long as they don't act on it or talk about it and try to shove it down everyone else's throat (pun intended) I don't see a problem.

I don't see why not. Don't tell me that people who are supposed to face down foreign enemies should be scared of someone looking at them in the shower. Gay people are serving, have served, and will serve. DADT purged out many useful people, including Arabic translators! Other countries have openly gay soldiers. Yes, it needs to be gotten rid of. We can't afford to be so damn picky.
