My 2005 mustang had a dead battery so I jumped it and had it charged at a local shop. It ran fine all night and then spent the night in a city parking garage. This morning I come in and they tell me it wont start? The car cranks and just wont fire. I smell gas, but it wont turn over. Also thick white smoke from tailpipes. Is my timing belt broken? Can this happen like this ? What could be wrong? Fuel pump maybe?

It's your car, right?
How and why would anyone else know it won't start?

You said you smell gas so the fuel pump is working. IF its turning over the battery is charged, the alternator wont charge the battery if it's broken. You may have residual charge from having it charged, however if it's turning over we dont know that yet.
Q BIG Q? did somebody use starting fluid at any time. This often times will cause your timming chain to slip. NOT nesasarally break just slip out of time. SO you will need to adjust the distributor to see if you can get it back in time. IT MAY be so far out of time you'll need to take it to a macanic to put it back in place. They'll pull the distributor out and re syinc it.
WAS YOU doing heavey burn outs or raceing?????
You may have cracked a head, blown a head gasket , cracked or broken a (or) few valves. This can be checked with a compression tester. Simply screwed into a spark plug outlet to see if you have proper compression.
First I'd take the plugs out one at a time. see if they are black, or white, dry or wet, or even broken. Put them back after seeing whats up and keep a log on which one is which for your mecanic. This will give them a head start on what's wrong and exactlly were to start. The spark plugs will tell the story. Remember to only take one out - read it - then put it back. If someone messed up your plug wire order this is a bad thing. and also could be your main problem. IF somebody did it on purpose or as a joke they'll usually do it on the distributor.
