It does. Unfortunately, it's been an uphill climb for many, and now it's same-sex couples' turn. I don't think it's fair that my wife and I have to be subject to some other citizens' beliefs, either. We don't set out to hurt anyone or destroy anyone elses' marriage, and they want to destroy ours. That said, I think it will happen, and I think our vocal opponents will look pathetic, at best, in the history books.

People have missed the point in the bible that says not to judge for that is gods job. People seem to think god will like us better if we perform the acts that we THINK he wants, ie ban gay relationships.
Most have forgotten the story of Mary Magdalene (sp?) When Jesus was there she knelt by his feet while the more righteous woman (i forget her name) did all the work. the righteous woman got angry and mentioned the fact that Mary was a mere prostitute so why should she do nothing and bask in Jesus' presence. He told each has there own place and way to serve. Point of story, prostitution is wrong in the bible yet she was still serving god in her way.
We should remember this and allow each to do what they need as long as does not hurt others. It is not for us to decide.

Because somehow, some way, two men getting easy next-of-kin status will cause the already high heterosexual divorce rate to climb ever higher, causing mass panic and reconstruction of social values, until we all have seven spouses (two men, three women, a four-year-old, and a donkey).

Slippery slope, people! Slippery slope! AAAAIIIIEEEEE!!!!

Aww, see, you thought wrong. You have the right to freedom, as long as you do whatever God says. Didn't you read it? It's right there in the Constitution! "We the People, shalt not do anything that goes against Pat Buchanan's Interpretation of the Bible."

I am gay but I know deep down that marriage, in general, for straights, is an institution that is failing. Why be part of a failure?

Yes, in principle, there should be same-sex marriage laws for the sake of legal equity. we should, as a community, focus on HEALTHY, LONG-TERM ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS, not SHORT-TERM SOCIAL CONTRACTS.

Marriage, of itself, means nothing.
