i have a hp pavilion a1253w and its not the cd in the drive.I went to
device manager and it has an exclimation point on it.

somethings WRONG! Windows loads forever and wont start and the dvd drive is olny recognized in safe mode

First try this: Using your device manager, right click on the drive in question. Select "Uninstall". Once that's done, exit from there and reboot the computer. Windows should detect the drive as "new hardware" and reinstall the driver for it. That usually does the trick unless there's a problem with the drive itself. Hope this helps.

if you have an exclamation mark then that means there is a problem with your hardware. Try downloading the latest driver for the DVD drive, if that doesn't work then disconnect the wires from it in the computer, then reconnect, from there try reinstalling the drivers again.

proper click on "My computer" (or in simple terms "computer" in VISTA) and pass to houses, then pass to the "gadget manager" then search for a your DVD rigidity. proper click on it and pass to houses, then click "replace driver". receive the drivers on-line and then in gadget manager go with the folder you kept the drivers in. wish this helps
